Ndanu is a nine-year-old girl from Kenya. She is an active and friendly girl, and she is the second born in a family of four children. Her mother is a casual laborer, while her father passed on three years ago after a short illness.
Ndanu’s parents noticed her legs were not straight when she was only a year old. She could walk, although with some difficulty. This worsened with time. They decided to visit the hospital.
Ndanu has since been diagnosed with genu valgus, commonly called “knock knees.” It’s a condition in which the knees angle in and touch one another when the legs are straightened.
The recommended surgery cost was too high for Ndanu’s family. Her mother works hard to provide for the family and is the sole provider. She cannot afford the the surgery.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, has requested $1,165 to fund Ndanu’s corrective leg surgery. The surgery will help Ndanu walk upright and improve her stability. In the future, she is expected to walk without pain.
“I have been praying to God my daughter will get the surgery she needs. God bless you,’’ says Ndanu’s mother.
