Kamuhanda is a 77-year-old farmer from Uganda. He is a husband and father to nine children, all of whom are married.
Kamuhanda has had a hernia for about ten years. Naturally, the pain caused by the swelling has affected his quality of life. If not treated, the hernia may strangulate, leading to tissue death.
In an previous attempt to seek treatment, Kamuhanda went to the hospital and was told that he needed surgery. Unfortunately, he couldn’t afford treatment. Then, he was referred to our medical partner’s hospital, Karoli Lwanga Hospital, by a neighbor. Here he’ll be able to undergo a hernia repair on August 17. The procedure will cost $219.
“I look forward to receiving financial support from Watsi because I cannot afford this surgery. I no longer do anything manually due to old age but I hope to have peace of mind after the surgery,” Kamuhanda says.
