Meta is a third-grade student from Cambodia. She is from Kampong Chhnang province and lives with her parents and two brothers. She is the middle child, with her youngest brother in kindergarten, and her oldest brother works on the family rice farm. At home, Meta enjoys playing with her neighbors and watching cartoons on her mom’s phone.
When she was one year old, an incident caused a flexion contracture of her right knee. Over the last few years, the condition has worsened and she is unable to fully straighten her knee.
On December 18th, surgeons at our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, will perform a quadricepsplasty procedure on the right knee to improve her leg function and overall mobility. Her family can contribute $100 but needs help to raise $382 more to fund Meta’s treatment and care.
Meta’s mother shared, “I hope she will be able to play with her friends more easily.”
