Nalen is an 11-year-old girl from Cambodia and has one older sister. She lives with her mother and grandmother out in the province.
Nalen experiences difficulty swallowing and breathing, as well as throat infections four to five times every year. At night she snores and does not sleep well. She does not enjoy eating food because of the pain and occasionally she has bouts of vomiting.
Nalen arrived at Watsi’s Medical Partner Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC) with tonsil enlargement. Surgeons at CSC will perform a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy, after which she will no longer experience these disruptive and painful symptoms.
Nalen said, “I hope I can breathe easily after my surgery.”
