Precios, also called ‘Preng-preng,’ is a five-year-old girl from a far-flung community in the Philippines. Her father is a farmer. Precios plays with toy dolls that she borrows from neighbors.
Our medical partner, International Care Ministries (ICM), has a home-based feeding program that provides nutrient-enriched food packs, ensuring malnourished children get the additional food they require to regain normal weight and achieve optimum physical and mental development. After identifying a child as malnourished, staff and community volunteers make weekly visits to monitor this child’s progress. To help sustain the health of the child, ICM’s professional staff educate the mother, guardian, or other family members about proper nutrition, sanitation, hygiene, and organic vegetable gardening.
“I hope that my child will recover from malnutrition and finish her studies,” says Precios’s mother.
Watsi is requesting $173 to help fund Precios’s supplemental nutrition, health trainer, and medication.
