Tugumisirize is a farmer from Uganda. She has five children.
Ten years ago, Tugumisirize began to experience troubling symptoms, including a neck swelling. This causes her difficulty swallowing and speaking. If not treated, the symptoms will worsen, leading to airway obstruction. She was diagnosed with a multinodular goiter. She needs surgery to prevent her symptoms from getting worse.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is helping Tugumisirize receive treatment. She is scheduled to undergo a thyroidectomy on December 14 at our medical partner’s care center. Surgeons will remove all or part of her thyroid gland. This procedure will cost $240, and she and her family need help raising money.
Tugumisirize says, “I will continue with cultivation to cater for my family after surgery.”
