Rosette is a hardworking 53-year-old farmer. She has seven children, some of whom are in formal employment and others whom are employed in the informal sector. She and her husband rely on small-scale farming to make ends meet and support their family.
For two years, Rosette has been experiencing severe vaginal bleeding, lower abdominal pain, and backaches. She has been diagnosed with a premalignant cervical lesion, meaning the cells in her cervix have the ability to turn into cancerous cells if not treated fast enough. In order to prevent this from occurring, Rosette must undergo a hysterectomy, a procedure where surgeons will remove her uterus.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $219 to fund Rosette’s surgery. On July 5th, she will undergo gynecological surgery at our medical partner’s care center. Once recovered, Rosette will be able to resume her daily activities free of pain.
Rosette shares, “I have hopes that when I am operated on, I will regain my health and continue with farming to sustain my family in good health.”
