Sareth is a 77-year-old grandmother from Cambodia. “Sareth is married with a son and seven grandchildren,” our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC) tells us. “She spends her days doing house work and talking with her neighbors.”
Sareth has a hyper-mature cataract, a clouding of the normally clear eye lens, in each eye. “Sareth has found it very difficult for her to do her work at the farm because of the cataracts in her eyes,” CSC explains. “She also can’t see the faces of her family very well and she doesn’t go out on her own, nor does she go to the pagoda very often anymore.”
For just $225, we can fund cataract removal surgery for both eyes. Sareth will first undergo the surgery on her right eye, then return two weeks later for surgery on her left.
“When she is done with surgery she hopes to start going to the farm and working again, plant veggies around her house and start going to the pagoda by herself,” CSC tells us.
