Geradina is a farmer and a mother of eight children. Geradina's husband passed away in 2011, which meant Geradina became the sole provider for their children still living at home. She works on the farm to make ends meet, but her medical condition often makes this work challenging. Geradina has experienced swelling for the past eight years and was scheduled to undergo a procedure in March but could not make the appointment due to the transportation fees. She was recently able to gather the money needed to visit the hospital again. Upon review, doctors diagnosed her condition as a cystocele and recommended she undergo uterine prolapse repair surgery. Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH), can help Geradina finally heal. On May 17th, she will undergo surgery that will allow her to lead a more comfortable life. AMH is requesting $220 to fund this treatment. Geradina says, “I will be very happy when this condition is relived from me as I had given up on myself due to lack of money for treatment. I look forward to resuming with farming since it’s my source of livelihood.”

Munty is a 12-year-old sixth grader, who is the eldest of three siblings. His parents are rice farmers. Munty enjoys math at school, and would like to be a math teacher when he grows up. Munty likes swimming, playing football with his friends, and watching TV. Last year he fractured his right forearm while playing with his friends after school. He had surgery, and hardware was placed in his arm at a local hospital to help repair the fracture. Munty's arm has healed, and he is looking forward to having the metal removed from his arm so he can get back to his usual activities without pain. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On May 2nd Munty will undergo a hardware removal procedure, which will cost $304. After this procedure, Munty will be able to regain the strength in his arm and his risk of future infections will be limited. "I hope that the metal in my arm will be removed. I want to heal quickly, so I can play with my friends again."

Thok is a 65-year-old rice farmer with three brothers and three sisters, she is the second eldest in her family. Thok lives with her niece, who is also a farmer. In her free time, Thok likes to listen to the monks pray on the radio. One year ago, Thok developed a cataract in her right eye, causing her photophobia and blurry vision. As a result, she has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking, so she cannot go places on her own. When Thok learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), she traveled for three and a half hours seeking treatment. On May 17th, doctors will perform cataract surgery, and an intraocular lens implant in her right eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. CSC is requesting $253 to fund this procedure. Thok says, "After surgery, I hope my eye can see well so I can easily recognize things, take care of myself, and help my niece with our housework."
