Meet Ahleya, a two-year-old girl who lives with her parents in a small bamboo house in the Philippines. She loves to dance, sing, and play. Ahleya’s mother washes clothes and linens at her job, and her father is a laborer at a fruit plantation.
Ahleya has recently been diagnosed with severe acute malnutrition. This is a life-threatening condition that requires urgent treatment.
Our medical partner, International Care Ministries (ICM), has put Ahleya into a home-based treatment program which begins February 22. The $268 treatment program will provide Ahleya with nutrient-rich food packs and other micronutrient supplements. ICM health workers will monitor Ahleya’s progress and also teach her parents how to create nutritious meals for their daughter.
Her mother wishes for Ahleya to recover so that she can “finish her studies.”
