Segundo is a 59-year old man from the Philippines who works as a driver. His wife is unemployed, and they occasionally receive help with household expenses from their child, who runs a small business. Segundo has been living with thyroid concerns for the last year. Still, he pushes through to enjoy singing during special occasions and family gatherings. Segundo remains hopeful about his recovery and shared that undergoing free surgery would ease his family's financial stress and keep them from having to borrow money to pay for his treatment. A year ago, Segundo began to experience troubling symptoms, including periodic palpitations and a throbbing sensation in his eyes. He was diagnosed with multinodular non-toxic goiter and needs surgery to heal. A recent ultrasound showed that the number and size of his thyroid nodules had increased, prompting concern from his family and a desire to have surgery before his condition worsens. Fortunately, our medical partner, World Surgical Foundation Philippines (WSFP), is helping Segundo receive treatment. On August 29th, he will undergo a thyroidectomy at Our Lady of Peace Hospital. During this procedure, surgeons will remove all or part of his thyroid gland. Part of his treatment cost is covered by the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and our medical partner, World Surgical Foundation Philippines, is raising the remaining $935 to cover the cost of Segundo's procedure and care. Segundo said, "I am deeply grateful for this opportunity to receive free surgery. I look forward to getting better and continuing to enjoy singing and spending time with my family without worrying about my health."

Bunny is a 33-year-old man who lives in Kandal Province in Cambodia. He works as a construction worker, while his wife works in a garment factory. The couple also has a small household garden, where they grow vegetables. Together, Bunny and his wife have three children. About a month ago, Bunny was involved in a motor vehicle accident, and sustained an injury on his left foot. He initially received treatment at a private clinic, where the wound was cleaned and dressed. He then continued wound care at home. Despite this, the wound failed to heal, and has remained open as a non-healing injury. The condition has significantly affected his daily life. He has difficulty walking, performing physical work, and returning to his job, which has impacted his family’s financial stability. Bunny was referred to our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, for specialized care. He is scheduled to undergo free flap surgery on his left foot on June 17th, at Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre. The surgery will close the wound, promote healing, and restore foot function. This will help restore Bunny's mobility, allowing him to walk more comfortably, and enabling him to return to work and normal daily activities. Bunny and his family are able to contribute towards the cost of his treatment, but need help raising $759 more to fund the surgery. Bunny says: “After surgery, I hope that my wound will heal completely, so I can walk comfortably again, return to work, and take care of my daily responsibilities without difficulty.”

Angel is a student from Colombia. He is a bright, responsible boy who is dedicated to his studies, which has allowed him to consistently excel at school. He is known for being curious, intelligent, cheerful, and very active. He enjoys anime, soccer, board games, traveling with his family, and playing freely; he also loves learning fun facts about animals and dinosaurs. He is currently learning to play the guitar and is on a soccer team. Angel began experiencing pain in early 2025, which forced him to stop playing soccer for a few months. He has an umbilical hernia, a condition in which a small portion of abdominal tissue protrudes through the navel. Surgery has been recommended to correct the hernia and prevent possible future complications. Fortunately, on September 30th, Angel will undergo repair surgery with the help of our medical partner, Clinica Noel. He needs help raising $1,005 to fund his procedure and care. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably.
