Pich is a 23-year-old farmer from Cambodia. He is single and lives with his parents and four siblings, all of whom are rubber farmers in Kampong Cham province. In his free time, he enjoys listening to music and going out with friends.
Pich has had a mass on his thyroid gland, the right side of his neck for about six months. It started small but has gradually increased in size over time. Although he doesn’t experience any pain, he has started to have difficulty swallowing, breathing, coughing, and voice changes. Without treatment, he could experience hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid) or hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid).
Pich traveled to our medical partner’s care center to receive treatment. On July 17th, surgeons at our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), will remove the mass. Pich can contribute $100 but needs help to raise the remaining $244 to fund this procedure.
Pich said: “I hope that, after this operation, there is no lump in my neck, so I will not worry about health problems in the future.”

We are pleased to bring you an update - Pich’s surgery went well!
The treatment will significantly improve Pich’s quality of life. Before, the growing lump caused him difficulty swallowing, breathing issues, coughing, and voice changes. Now, his symptoms have already subsided, allowing him to breathe and eat normally again. Pich looks forward to interacting with others and doing physical labor on the farm without discomfort, or fear of the condition worsening. Most importantly, the surgery prevents future complications like hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism, enabling him to focus on his work and future with peace of mind.
Pich shared, “I feel so much better now. I can breathe, eat, and sleep without any problems. I’m very thankful to the doctors and everyone who helped me.”
