Michael was in a public bus accident last year on his way home to his village in Western Kenya. His left leg was amputated, and he is now unable to walk because of an untreated ligament laceration of his right knee.
Michael is happily married, and the father of a beautiful 7-year-old daughter. Before the accident, Michael worked as a mechanic. He didn’t earn much, but he made enough to provide for his family and he loved his work.
Because he can’t walk, Michael has been unable to work since the accident. He told the Watsi coordinator at Kijabe Hospital in Kenya that he “desperately longs to get back to work” to support his family.
Michael’s in-laws were able to raise the funds needed to treat the rest of his injuries, but they need help covering the cost of his knee reconstruction. $1200 will cover the cost of Michael’s surgery through African Mission Healthcare Foundation, and, they say, “enable Michael to use his leg (when supported due to lack of other limb) to walk.”
