Vin is a 16-year-old teenage boy from Cambodia. He lives with his parents and his older sister in Kampong Speu Province. His mother is a housewife and his father is a rice farmer. His 21-year-old sister has a job at a clothes factory in the province. Vin dropped out of school in 7th grade and now helps his father on the rice farm. Vin's favorite meal is fried pork. In his free time, he enjoys playing soccer. When Vin was one year old, he suffered a hot water burn on his left hand, which resulted in skin contractures. This occurs when the burn scar matures, thickens, and tightens, preventing movement. After the accident, Vin's mother took him to a nearby health center, but she couldn't afford further treatment due to money issues. Burn scar contractures have developed slowly around his hand, tightening the skin and making it difficult for Vin to use his hand. When Vin learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), he traveled for two and a half hours seeking treatment. On May 14th, surgeons at CSC will perform a burn contracture release surgery to improve the dexterity and use of his left hand. Vin's family has contributed $40 to his healthcare and needs help to raise $455 more to fund this procedure. Vin said, "I hope I can move my fingers again and help my father on our rice farm. I want to support the family so my father does not have to work so hard."

Sarou is a 58-year-old construction worker from Cambodia. He lives with his wife and two of his four children in Sihanouk province. The other two children have moved out and help support the family by working in factory and construction jobs. At home, Sarou likes to listen to Buddhist radio and harvest fruit from the trees in the village. On February 26, 2024, Sarou was in a motorbike accident that caused a closed fracture on his left thigh. He was sent to a local hospital for surgery. On July 1, 2024, he was in another traffic accident that injured the same leg. Sarou now requires additional surgery to align the bone using metalwork. Currently, his left femur is swollen and he is in chronic pain. He is unable to walk or work. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On July 3rd, Sarou's family is able to contribute $100 but needs help to raise $383 to fund this procedure. After surgery, Sarou hopes the pain will be gone and he can return to work.

Fira is a five-month-old baby girl from Ethiopia, the first child of her parents. She loves to play with her mum and taking baths. Her parents are small-scale farmers, and their income from their harvest covers the family's basic necessities. Fira was born with an anorectal malformation, a congenital condition that can cause a partial or complete intestinal blockage. Soon after her birth, her parents visited a branch of the Missionaries of Charity, where they received guidance and support to reach our medical partner's care center, BethanyKids Myungsung Christian Medical Centre (BKMCM). At the hospital, Fira was reviewed and doctors advised that she would need to undergo a series of procedures to correct the condition. Unfortunately, her parents are finding it hard to pay Fira's medical expenses. Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Fira receive treatment. On July 25th, she will undergo surgery to treat her condition and reduce the her risk of developing health complications in the future. Now, Fira's family needs help to fund this $1,500 procedure. Fira's father says, “I hope that my child undergoes successful surgery, and is able to go to school when she grows up, just like any other child"
