Dieuralna is a 14-month-old infant from Haiti who lives with her mother, father, and three sisters. Dieuralna has been diagnosed with hydrocephalus, a condition where excess cerebrospinal fluid accumulates in the brain, causing increased pressure. As a result, Dieuralna has experienced an increase in head circumference. Without timely intervention, she faces severe physical and developmental delays. Our medical partner, Project Medishare, is seeking $897 to fund the surgery Dieuralna urgently needs at Hospital Bernard Mevs, the only facility in Haiti offering this care. The surgery is scheduled for September 14th and will drain the excess fluid from her brain, reducing the pressure and significantly improving her quality of life. With this treatment, Dieuralna has a hopeful future where she can grow into a strong, healthy young girl. Dieuralna's family shared, "We are hopeful and eagerly anticipating a successful surgery for her."

Brok is a 60-year-old grandmother. She and her husband are rice farmers from Prey Veng province, three and a half hours from the capital of Phnom Penh. They have two daughters and three young grandchildren. Brok works long hours outside in the bright sun, while one of her daughters stays home to manage the house and watch the children. At home, she enjoys watching Khmer dramas on the television. About a year ago, Brok developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her blurred vision and difficulty seeing in low or bright light. A cataract is a clouding of the eye's lens, so it is like looking through a frosty or fogged-up window. She has difficulty seeing things, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking, so is not able to go places on her own. This vision loss can make it difficult for older adults to engage in social activities, watch television, or even recognize faces, which can lead to isolation and loneliness. When Brok learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for three and a half hours seeking treatment. On September 6th, doctors will perform phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Brok can contribute $50 but needs help to raise $203 more to fund her procedure. Brok said: "I feel bad because it is hard to see when I go out and I can’t go to plant rice. I hope after my operation I can go outside again to help my family."

Winnie is a 50-year-old farmer and the seventh of thirteen children in her family, with five brothers and seven sisters. She grew up as an orphan and married at the age of 18. Together with her husband, she had three children. Unfortunately, her husband later passed away from cancer, leaving Winnie to struggle to provide for their three children and pay their school fees. Currently, her only source of income is farming. She has a banana and coffee farm from which she earns a living, however, her condition has impacted her health to the point that she no longer attends to her farm like she used to do before. For five years, Winnie has been experiencing lower abdominal pain, severe bleeding, dizziness, and persistent headaches. She sought medical help and was admitted for treatment to manage her bleeding, and a scan was performed. She has been diagnosed with multiple uterine fibroids, and the doctor recommended surgery for which she requires support. She needs to undergo a hysterectomy, a procedure in which the surgeons will remove her uterus. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Winnie receive treatment. On October 10th, she will undergo gynecological surgery at our medical partner's care center, Karoli Lwanga Hospital Nyakibale. Once recovered, Winnie will be able to resume her daily activities free of pain. Now, Winnie needs help to fund this $219 procedure. Winnie says, “Given my financial situation, I am concerned about being able to afford the cost of my surgery. I am experiencing a lot of pain and would greatly appreciate your support in this matter.”
