Diriba is a 58-year-old man from Ethiopia. He is a dedicated farmer who has spent his entire life tilling the soil alongside his wife. Together, they have raised six children, building a legacy defined by hard work and strength. His hands are his most important tools, but his way of life is now at risk. A benign tumor on the back of his left hand is making it nearly impossible for him to continue the manual labor his family relies on.
Diriba shared that he started noticing the symptoms six years ago, with pain radiating from the back of the arm. He also started experiencing sharp sensations, as if someone was stabbing him repeatedly in the back of his arm. Sometimes, the pain is so intense that it makes it nearly impossible for him to move his hand at all, affecting his work. Tasks that used to be easy are now very painful and difficult for him to finish. It deeply saddens him to see his wife shouldering all the responsibilities alone.
Diriba traveled to our medical partner’s care center to receive treatment. On February 14th, surgeons will perform an excisional biopsy to remove the mass. Now, Diriba needs help to raise $750 to fund this procedure.
He says: “I am so hopeful for the opportunity to feel strong again! After the treatment, I look forward to returning to my farm and working more freely.”
