Arinaitwe is a 32-year-old woman from western Uganda. She is a mother of one child, who is 11 years old.
Two years ago, Arinaitwe developed a painless mass on the upper back side of her left foot. Over time, the mass has become painful and increased in size. She experiences pain and numbness in her left toes, especially when she stands for a long time. Arinaitwe traveled to our medical partner’s care center, where she was diagnosed with a ganglionic cyst that requires excision.
However, Arinaitwe is not able to raise the funds needed for the surgery. She separated with her husband and is the breadwinner for her family. Arinaitwe works at a catholic parish as a house help in the priest’s house to make ends meet. She has limited income and is appealing for financial help.
Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, can help. On October 20th, Arinaitwe will undergo a mass excision procedure, which will cost $196. This procedure will remove the ganglionic cyst and prevent her from feeling more pain and numbness in her foot.
Arinaitwe shared, “I am really grateful to know of such an opportunity. I hope that I will get much better once my surgery goes well, and I will continue with my work as a cook.”
