Ngorn is a 66-year-old married farmer with three daughters and four sons. She likes to cook and look after her young granddaughter.
Five years ago, Ngorn developed a small skin lesion on her back, which has grown in size over the years. She experiences pain and discomfort, especially when she lies down. Ngorn traveled with her daughter for three hours to reach our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), for treatment.
Doctors have diagnosed Ngorn with a type of skin cancer called basal cell carcinoma. Fortunately, this is one of the least dangerous forms of skin cancer, as it is slow-growing and rarely spreads.
Ngorn will undergo surgery to remove the tumor on February 27. CSC is asking for $224 to cover the costs of Ngorn’s surgery.

Ngorn underwent cancer-fighting surgery.
Ngorn’s treatment went well. Surgeons at CSC removed the carcinoma from her back and performed a biopsy. Following the procedure, she was given pain medication, and her sutures were removed seven days later. The biopsy report revealed that Ngorn actually had a squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), \ not a basal cell carcinoma (BCC). Ngorn will continue to come to CSC for further treatments.
Ngorn says, “I feel a bit better, and I am able to sleep a little better too.”
