Devis is a bright nine-year-old student in need of hernia surgery. His father is a construction site porter, and his mother is a farmer. Devis has three siblings, an older brother who is in sixth grade and two younger sisters who haven’t started school yet. Devis is currently in fourth grade and was at the top of his class last term. Devis dreams of becoming a doctor, and he loves football and playing with his sisters.
Since Devis was seven, he has experienced swelling and pain in a sensitive area that limits him from playing and makes him uncomfortable when walking. He also experiences abdominal pain, which is most noticeable when he coughs or laughs. His symptoms stem from a reducible inguinal scrotal hernia.
Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, can help. On June 6th, Devis will undergo hernia repair surgery at our medical partner’s care center.
African Mission Healthcare is requesting $230 to fund Devis’s surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably and pursue his big dreams.
Devis’s mother says, “I hope to get support and see my son have a complete recovery after he is operated on.”
