This is Nyunt, a loving, married 27-year-old woman from Burma. Nyunt and her husband work at a restaurant that sells curries and vegetables. They often use their income to cover healthcare costs of their two-year-old son and Nyunt’s mother.
Nyunt currently lives with a painful myoma – a noncancerous growth of the uterus.
“Nyunt has difficulty passing urine, which makes it uncomfortable to work and go outside,” our medical partner, Burma Border Projects (BBP), tells us. “Her condition makes it difficult for her to get pregnant, which she really looks forward to.”
Whenever Nyunt enters her menstrual period, she often experiences severe pain. “Because of her condition, she cannot work and therefore cannot support her family,” BBP explains. “This adds to her stress and anxiety.”
For $865, we can provide Nyunt with gynecological surgery to remove the myoma, so she will be able to work and support her family again.
“If the pain leaves, she will be really happy to be together with her children and her husband,” BBP tells us. “She will be able to save her family’s future, and with time, hopefully she may be able to become pregnant and give her son a sibling.”
