Darian is a five-year-old student who lives in Columbia with his family. He is an intelligent, charismatic, and very friendly boy. His joy and curiosity shine through every day at preschool, where he interacts with his classmates with enthusiasm and warmth. Two years ago, Darian developed an umbilical hernia, a condition in which a small portion of abdominal tissue protrudes through the navel. He has been experiencing discomfort especially when doing everyday activities like playing, jumping, and enjoying his childhood. Darian was assessed by our medical partner, Clínica Noel, and has been scheduled to undergo surgery on May 19th. Now, his family needs help to fund this $1,005 procedure. Darian looks forward to feeling better so he can practice on being a soccer player! His mother says, "As a mother, I would like to express my deepest gratitude for the opportunity given to my son. Daud is 58 years old and a farmer from Malawi. He is a devoted father of seven children and a grandfather caring for four grandchildren under his roof. He lives a simple life centered around maize farming, which serves as the main source of food and income for his extended family. Like many hardworking men in his community, his days are spent in the garden, tending to his crops to ensure his family’s survival. For two years, Daud has had a left inguinal hernia. One day, while working in his field, Daud began to feel a sharp pain in his abdomen. Over time, the pain and discomfort have increased, making it increasingly difficult for him to carry out his daily activities, including farming. Fortunately, on April 9th, he will undergo hernia repair surgery with the help of our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare. Daud is raising $500 to fund the procedure, which will allow him to live more comfortably. Daud said, "Despite the challenges that I'm facing, I remain hopeful that the upcoming surgery will restore my health and allow me to return to my garden, continue supporting my family, and enjoy life with my children and grandchildren once again."

Richard is a 35-year-old bricklayer from Malawi who is married with three children. He relies on part-time manual labor to earn a living, which he uses solely for his family's upkeep. Five years ago, Richard was diagnosed with a right inguinal hernia, a condition that occurs when abdominal tissue protrudes through a weak spot in the lower abdominal muscles, causing a bulge in the groin area. He has sought medical care on several occasions; however, the treatment he received did not provide relief. Over time, his symptoms have worsened, becoming overwhelming and disabling, and preventing him from concentrating on his work. During a recent visit to the regional referral hospital, he was advised to visit our medical partner's care center, Partners in Hope Medical Center, for a review. Upon assessment, surgery was recommended but unfortunately, Richard is unable to raise the required treatment fees. Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Richard receive treatment. On April 9th, he is scheduled to undergo surgery to restore his health, allow him to fully resume his work, and enable him to earn a stable income to support his family. Now, Richard needs help to fund this $575 procedure. He says, "I heard about the donor program, and believed that this is my chance. I look forward to rejoicing once I receive treatment through your support."
