Meet Susma, an active five-year-old girl who lives with her parents and brothers in Nepal. Our medical partner, Possible, tells us that recently “Susma was scaling a wall with her friends when she fell over on her right arm,” and fractured several bones.
Susma’s arm is very swollen. “She needs help eating and wearing clothes, activities she enjoyed doing independently before,” Possible says. Susma is normally quite active and loves to play ball with her brothers. Her mother tells us “Susma has a beautiful voice, she loves singing and dancing too.
Susma’s parents cannot afford the cost of their daughter’s care. If Susma does not have an operation, her bones will not set in the correct alignment.
For $224, Susma will undergo surgery to repair her fractured arm. This operation will properly align her broken bones so that they heal properly. Susma’s mother is glad her daughter’s arm will get better so that she can continue playing safely.
