When Meng Ky was a year old, he stuck his hand into a boiling pot of palm sugar and suffered terrible burns on his left hand and wrist. Now five years old, three of Meng Ky’s fingers have become stiff and bent towards the palm of his hand. Without surgery, his doctors say, “he will have very limited function, which will hinder his everyday life and activities.”
Meng Ky comes from a loving family and is generally happy despite his condition. Staff at Children’s Surgical Centre tell us, “Meng Ky’s favorite things are dried fish, the color yellow, and playing with the puppies in his village. He also enjoys playing soccer with his two brothers, but it is more difficult for him.”
Meng Ky comes from an area of Cambodia where the average person makes less than $2 a day. The surgery he needs costs $300. We hope to raise enough money to help CSC cover the cost of his care so he can live a normal life.
