Bunnang is a 42-year-old high school teacher from Cambodia. He lives with his wife, who is also a high school teacher, and their three children in Kampong Cham Province. His oldest son is in high school, while his two younger sons are in primary school. During his free time, Bunnang enjoys teaching his children at home and helping them with their studies.
Bunnang has been experiencing a persistent wound on his left foot for the last five years, and his doctors recommend an amputation below the left knee to prevent his symptoms from getting worse. Bunnang was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), a type of skin cancer that starts in the outer layer of the skin, caused by his chronic non-healing wound. If left untreated, the condition could spread further and needs immediate attention to prevent complications.
Bunnang will undergo surgery at our medical partner’s hospital on April 7th. After recovering, he is most looking forward to being able to walk without discomfort and taking care of his family more easily. Bunnang’s family contributed $100 to his care and needs help raising $379 to fund the remaining cost of his procedure.
Bunnang shared, “I just hope it doesn’t spread; even if I have to wear a prosthetic after the surgery, I want to be healthy.”
