Oun is a 65-year-old grandmother, living with her husband and one of their sons, in Cambodia. Altogether, she and her husband have four sons and eight grandchildren. While her husband works as a rice farmer, Oun enjoys playing with her grandchildren, and listening to the radio.
Four years ago Oun developed a cataract in her right eye, causing her blurry vision, tearing, and sensitivity to light. As her vision deteriorates, Oun feels as if she is losing her independence, because she is uncomfortable going out on her own.
Oun traveled to consult with the doctors at our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre. Now she is scheduled to have the cataract removed, and an intracular lens implanted in her eye, on October 17th, at Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre. After she has fully recovered, Oun will be able to see clearly again, and she should regain her sense of independence. Now, she needs your help to fund this $253 procedure.
Oun shared: “I hope after surgery my eye can see better, and I can go outside and do housework much more easily everyday.”
