Heak is a 50-year-old rice farmer living in Cambodia with his wife and three children. When he isn’t on the farm, he enjoys watching the news and socializing with neighbors.
According to our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Center (CSC), “Heak developed a cataract in each eye 3 months ago. This causes him blurred vision and irritation. He can’t see everything clearly, do work well, or go outside on his own.” Without treatment, Heak’s vision will only worsen, which could lead to blindness.
Heak needs cataract repair surgery. During surgery, his cloudy lenses will be removed and replaced with prosthetic lenses.
Treatment will cost a total of $225. This amount includes surgical and medical fees, expenses related to his two day stay in the hospital, and a follow-up with an eye doctor.
Heak hopes to “see everything more clearly than now, so [he] can continue [his] work as farmer and…go anywhere without having to disturb others.”
