Kahababo is a 90-year-old grandfather from Uganda. He has bladder stones which have caused him severe abdominal pain as well as difficulty passing urine. If left untreated, his condition can lead to kidney failure.
“Kahababo has for the last 30 years experienced severe pain in his lower abdomen,” says our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation (AMHF). “He went to a government hospital and was given treatment which reduced the pain temporarily. When the pain returned, Kahababo went back and was examined. He was told that he needs surgery.”
With $190, Kahababo will undergo a laparotomy, surgery to remove the bladder stones. AMHF expects that after surgery, “Kahababo will be free from the pain and risk of related complications” including urine retention and kidney failure.
Kahababo hopes that “after surgery, I will be strong again and be able to live many more years.”
