Chhan is a rice farmer with one son and four daughters who are all married and live and farm nearby. He spends much of his time visiting his children’s families and bringing small gifts to his grandchildren. Chhan also likes to listen to the news and the prayers on the radio.
Six years ago, Chhan developed a cataract in his right eye, causing him itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. He has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going placed independently.
When Chhan learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), he traveled for three-and-a-half hours seeking treatment. On August 2nd, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in his right eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now, CSC is requesting $229 to fund procedure.
Chhan shares, “When my sight is better, I will be excited to do my daily work again, to take care of my wife, and see all my grandchildren.”
