Sipha has five children, with two of them living in another province working in factories. He is a single father and currently lives with three of his younger children and his 70-year-old mother in rural Mondulkiri Province. His three sons are aged 5, 7, and 11, and all of them attend the local school. In his free time, Sipha helps his mother raise pigs behind their house and enjoys playing with his children. Since birth, Sipha has had a large vascularized mass on his upper lip that extends into his right nostril. In 2002, he underwent an excision of the mass at a local hospital. However, over time, the mass has grown progressively larger again, making it difficult for him to speak and eat comfortably. Fortunately, our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), can help. Sipha and his sister traveled from Mondulkiri Province for nearly 6 hours to seek treatment. On June 14th, the team at CSC will perform surgery to remove the mass on his upper lip. This surgery will eliminate discomfort and make it easier to speak and eat. Sipha is able to contribute $75 but needs help to raise $651 more to fund the procedure. Sipha hopes that the surgery will allow him to talk with his children again and reduce his stress about the mass growing in size.

Brak Vin is an active two-year-old boy from Cambodia. He is an only child and lives with his parents on the outskirts of Phnom Penh, where they sell groceries and snacks from their home. At home, he enjoys drinking fresh milk and eating dragon fruit. He enjoys playing with his homemade toys or going on walks with his father. Brak Vin was born with polydactyly of his right hand. This means that he has an extra thumb on his hand. His parents worry that he will face challenges as he grows up and will feel ashamed of his hand. Fortunately, on July 2nd, our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. Surgeons will perform a polydactyly repair procedure to remove the extra finger. This procedure will help him use his hand more easily. Brak Vin's family is able to contribute $100 but needs help to raise $199 more to fund the procedure. Brak Vin's father shared, "I hope the extra finger can be removed, and he will feel at ease with his hand in the future."

Magdaline is a 47-year-old woman from Kenya. She resides with her husband and four children in Gitithia village, Lari Sub County in Kiambu County. Neither Magdaline nor her husband works, and they mainly depend on the income they receive from their small piece of land. The company her husband used to work for closed after the onset of COVID-19, while Magdaline used to be a cook at a nearby school. Two months ago, Magdaline began experiencing heavy bleeding and lower abdominal pains. She sought medical treatment, but the bleeding continued. Magdaline was diagnosed with uterine fibroids and doctors recommended for her to have a hysterectomy, a procedure in which surgeons will remove her uterus. Unfortunately, Magdalene and her husband cannot afford the cost of this treatment. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $657 to fund Magdaline's surgery. On July 31st, she will undergo surgery at our medical partner's care center. Once recovered, Magdaline will be able to resume her daily activities free of pain. “This problem is making it difficult for me to care for my family and even to socialize; I cannot go out to visit friends or family. I am kindly requesting for consideration so that my life can be normal again, and I can continue with my house chores without problems,” said Magdaline.
