Houng is a 60-year-old farmer from Cambodia. She is married and has one daughter, two sons, and eight grandchildren. In her free time, Houng likes to watch Khmer dramas on TV and go to the pagoda to listen to monks pray.

Our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, is requesting $398 to fund a phaco procedure and an intraocular lens implant for each of Houng’s eyes. The surgery is scheduled to take place on June 28 and, once completed, will hopefully restore Houng’s vision to its former state and allow her to live more comfortably.

Houng underwent cataract surgery.
Her eye cataract was successfully removed from her right eye, and clear vision has been restored. Following the operation, she was given eye drops to reduce inflammation and prevent infection. She will return soon for the same surgery on her left eye.
Houng says, “I feel very happy that I can see everything more clearly than before. I can continue my work on the farm, do housework and any other work, and go anywhere outside by myself more easily. I am very thankful to the doctors and all of the staff at CSC that helped on my eye surgery and help me to see everything again.”
