Eang is an eight-year-old primary school student from Cambodia. He lives with his parents, who are rice farmers, and his younger brother, who is in kindergarten. Eang loves learning Khmer history in school, playing with friends in the village, and eating fried meat with vegetables. When he grows up, he hopes to become a police officer.
For the past month, Eang has been experiencing difficulty breathing at night, loud snoring during sleep, and painful, difficult swallowing. His breathing and swallowing problems make it hard for him to sleep comfortably and eat without pain, which affects his daily energy and ability to focus well at school. Eang was recently diagnosed with enlarged tonsils and adenoids, which, if not treated, will cause his symptoms to persist and possibly intensify over time.
Our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, is requesting $345 to fund a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy for Eang. He will undergo this surgery on December 9th. During the procedure, surgeons will remove his tonsils and adenoids, hopefully relieving Eang of his symptoms and helping him live much more comfortably.
His mother said, “After the surgery, I hope that my son will be able to breathe and swallow, so he can grow healthy and focus more at school.”
