16-year-old Hellen is an ambitious young girl from Zambia who recently had a group of growths removed from her shoulder and leg, funded by Watsi donors.
After the growths were removed, surgeons at CURE realized they were dealing with an additional, even bigger challenge: a bone tumor in her leg. Hellen deals with extreme pain and limited range of motion in her leg because of this tumor. She is unable to walk or run normally, and hasn’t been able to participate fully in activities at school or home.

Hellen received surgery to remove a tumor from her tibia.
After having a tumor removed from her arm, Hellen most recently had a tumor removed from her leg—the second successful surgery funded by Watsi donors. She will now have full use of both limbs and can look forward to a pain free life.
