Yeng is 64 years old and a retired rice farmer from Kampong Cham, Cambodia. He is married and has four sons, one daughter, and eight grandchildren. He currently lives with his wife and his daughter, who works at a garment factory. In his free time, he enjoys joining traditional ceremonies and visiting the pagoda, which are important parts of his social and spiritual life. About two years ago, Yeng developed eye irritation, tearing, and a persistent foreign body sensation, making it difficult for him to see clearly and recognize people well. His eyelids turn inward, causing his eyelashes to scrape the surface of his eyes. It is difficult for him to open his eyelids and see. These symptoms have caused discomfort and worry, limiting his confidence in daily activities. On February 17th, Yeng will undergo surgery at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC). This procedure will address his condition and help him see better. Yeng can contribute $50, but needs help to raise $273 more to fund his care. Yeng said, "After surgery, I hope my eye irritation and tearing will stop, the itching will be relieved, and my vision will improve so I can recognize others clearly again." He also wishes to regain his independence and confidence, allowing him to attend ceremonies and visit the pagoda comfortably without concern.

Brian is 10 years old and a student from Kenya. He is the youngest of four children. He was born with a condition known as Hemiplegic Cerebral Palsy (CP), which has greatly affected his mobility. Brian cannot walk and only crawls from one place to another. This has made daily activities difficult for him and his family. After his birth, his mother was referred to a nearby hospital for specialized care. Brian underwent several physiotherapy sessions, hoping to see improvement. Unfortunately, his condition did not get better. As a widow, Brian’s mother works tirelessly, taking on casual jobs like crushing stones into ballast and selling them, to provide for her family. Despite the hardship, she has never given up on finding help for her son. Brian attends a special school within their village that supports children with different disabilities. Brian was diagnosed with clubfoot on his right foot. Clubfoot is a condition in which the foot is twisted out of shape. This causes difficulty walking and even wearing shoes. Fortunately, Brian traveled to visit our medical partner's care center, AIC Cure International Hospital. There, surgeons will perform clubfoot repair surgery on February 20th. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $1,286 to fund Brian's clubfoot repair. After treatment, he will be able to walk on his feet, play with other children, become more independent, and continue with his education without limitations. “When I first learned about my son’s condition, I was in great shock. I did not know what the future would look like for him,” Brian’s mother recalls softly. She added, I hope to see my son receive treatment, walk on his own, play and interact freely with other children, and continue with his education without any challenges.”

Heang is a 41-year-old woman working in the crushed stone industry. She's from Takeo province in Cambodia. Heang is married and has two sons but no grandchildren yet. Her husband also works in the crushed stone industry, and her sons are students. In her free time, Heang likes to cook her favorite foods. About three years ago, due to trauma from a stone at work, the retina of Heang's right eye detached. This is causing her partial blindness and tearing. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere alone. When Heang learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for three hours seeking treatment. On May 4th, eye surgeons will perform a retinal detachment repair procedure in her right eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, Children's Surgical Centre is requesting $706 to fund her procedure. Heang said, "I hope that after surgery my vision will improve, allowing me to see clearly, recognize things more easily, and return to work."
