77-year-old Neang lives in Cambodia with her husband, two children, and seven grandchildren. One year ago, Neang developed a cataract in each eye. “This causes her blurred vision, irritating, tearing, and headaches,” our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), reports.
Cataracts occur when the eye lens becomes cloudy, leading to impaired vision and functional blindness. The condition has made it hard for Neang to do work and go outside on her own.

After surgery, “Neang will be able to see clearly again,” CSC explains.

Neang had a successful cataract surgery on her left eye. She can see clearly with that eye now. She has yet to return for surgery on her right eye. When she does it will be free of charge.
Neang is excited to have regained her vision, allowing her the freedom to work, visit the pagoda, and go outside by herself. Her daughter shares Neang’s happiness and is grateful for the staff at CSC that successfully treated her eyesight. Thank you for helping to make Neang’s surgery possible!
