Bae is a 70-year-old rice farmer who is married with two sons, four daughters, and four grandchildren. In his free time, he likes to listen to the news on the radio.
One month ago, Bae developed a pterygium in each eye. A pterygium is a growth on the clear tissue of the eye. They cause him blurred vision, tearing, and pain. He has difficulty seeing things clearly, working, and going anywhere on his own.
When Bae learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), he traveled for six hours to seek treatment. On December 12, CSC surgeons extracted the pterygium from each eye. After recovery, Bae’s vision will improve. Now, CSC is requesting $148 to fund his treatment.
“I hope that I feel better and look better so that I can continue my farming,” he says.
