Brillant is a two-year-old boy from Burundi. His mother is a single mother who farms and sells vegetables in the market to support her three children. One year and nine months ago, Brillant was diagnosed with a left inguinal hernia, a swelling in a sensitive part of his body. He cries often, unable to explain how he feels. He cannot play, run, or sleep through the night. He needs surgery to address his symptoms and prevent them from getting worse. Fortunately, on October 2nd, Brillant will undergo hernia repair surgery at our medical partner's care center, Kibuye Hope Hospital. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $197 to fund Brillant's surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably and confidently. Brillant's mother shared, “I have no one else to ask. I work every day, but I cannot earn what the hospital needs. Please help my Brillant. Help me give him this surgery so he can grow like other children. I cannot watch him suffer anymore.”

No is a 62-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia. He is married and has four daughters, one son, and six grandchildren. His wife stays home to care for their household while No is farming. When he has free time, he enjoys watching the news on his phone. About two years ago, No developed a cataract in his left eye, causing him to experience itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. A cataract is a clouding of the lens of the eye, so it is like looking through a frosty or fogged-up window. No has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking, so he cannot go places on his own. When No learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), he traveled for three hours seeking treatment. On October 22nd, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in his left eye. After recovery, No will be able to see clearly. CSC is requesting $263 to fund his procedure. No shared: "I hope, after surgery, my eye can see better so I can go back to growing rice and plant some vegetables around my home."

Lin is a 35-year-old fish seller from Prey Veng province. He is married and has one son and one daughter. He lives together, his wife is also a fish seller, and his children are students. In his free time, he likes to listen to the news on his phone and play volleyball. About one year ago, Lin developed a cataract in his left eye, causing him to experience itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. When Lin learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, he traveled for two hours seeking treatment. On June 10, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in his left eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. He can contribute $25, but needs help raising $238 more to fund his procedure and care. Lin said, "I hope after surgery, my eye can see better. I can go back to selling fish well again, and I can drive my motorcycle and bring my children to school easily, and can go far places well."
