Ly is a rice farmer from Cambodia. She is the eldest of eight siblings. She has three brothers and four sisters. She enjoys watching movies and listening to news on the radio in her free time.
Two years ago, Ly developed a cataract in each eye, causing her blurry vision, headache, and irritation. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Ly learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for one and a half hours seeking treatment. On June 5, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in each eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $398 procedure.
She says, “I am looking forward to learning more about Buddha and returning to work after my surgery.”

Surgery will allow her to work and go about her daily life with improved vision. Her doctor looks forward to seeing her again in a couple weeks.
She says, “I am happy that my vision is more clear than before. I can easily do any work and go anywhere outside by myself and I won’t need to disturb anyone to help me get around.”
