Meet Joshua, a two-year-old boy growing up with his mother in Uganda. An outgoing child, Joshua enjoys playing with his grandparents and neighbors when they visit.
Since birth, Joshua has been dealing with a scrotal hernia, which means that part of his intestine has protruded through his scrotum. He experiences frequent pain and discomfort due to the location of the hernia. His mother has since taken him to our medical partner’s care center, where doctors have recommended Joshua have surgery in order to relieve the pain.
Joshua is now scheduled to undergo surgery to repair the hernia on September 19. As his mother does not make enough income from farming to afford the cost of Joshua’s operation, our medical partner, The Kellermann Foundation, is requesting $179 to cover the expenses of procedure.
After her son’s surgery, Joshua’s mother hopes to start a business to help pay for his school fees when he gets older. But until then, she is grateful for the help she and her son are receiving, as she says, “I thank the donors for supporting my son’s treatment, which I could not afford.”
