Vannthet is a 53-year-old rice farmer in Kratie province, Cambodia. He is a widower and has three children; his two eldest are rice farmers, and his youngest is a teacher. In his free time, he likes to cut the grass around his home and go to the rice fields with his children to look after his crops.
On September 6th, Vannthet crashed his motorbike into another motorbike, resulting in a fractured lower left leg. He could not afford to visit a clinic, but the injury has made it difficult for him to walk. He experiences pain and stiffness and relies on crutches to move around. Vannthet is unable to work in the rice fields and must rely on his children to manage the crops.
Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, can help. On October 7th, Vannthet will undergo a fracture repair procedure, which will help heal his fracture and reduce his pain and stiffness. He hopes to walk more comfortably again without crutches and return to his daily activities. Vannthet can contribute $100, but needs help to raise $500 more to fund his procedure and care.
Vannthet said, “After the surgery, I hope that I will be able to walk without using a crutch and no longer have pain, so I can return to my work.”
