On April 10, 2015, Korn was in a moto accident. After the accident she received Khmer Traditional Medicine (KTM) treatment, but her condition did not improve. Her left forearm is fractured and she is unable to move it. It is difficult for her to hold anything with her left arm.
Korn is a 48-year-old farmer from Cambodia, married with one son. Korn spends her time cleaning around her home, caring for pigs and chickens, and watching TV.
Korn traveled three hours with her daughter to reach our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), for care. For $405, surgeons at CSC will perform an open reduction and internal fixation procedure to heal the fracture.
After surgery, Korn hopes to regain full use of her arm. When she is fully healed, she will return home and resume working.

Korn underwent a life-improving surgery on her arm.
Korn’s open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) surgery went very well. During the two-part procedure, doctors placed the bones in her left forearm in their proper position and then inserted a rod so the bones remain in place as they heal. She will have two weeks of physiotherapy and a follow-up appointment in one month, but already her wound is healing and her arm is improving.
“I’m so happy that now I can hold and carry things on my own,” Korn said. With her fracture treated, Korn can return home to work on her farm and care for her son without pain.
