“I am looking forward to getting well and appreciate so much all the donors helping me,” shares 54-year-old Lucia.
Lucia and her husband work as small farmers on their own land in Uganda. They primarily grow cassava, beans, millet, and bananas. Her husband owns a stall in the local market and sells the surplus food.
Lucia has experienced uncomfortable gynecological symptoms for the last five years. Since March, the pain and bleeding have become so severe that she cannot perform her daily activities. She is tired, dizzy, and worried about her health.
Fortunately, Lucia underwent a hysterectomy on October 31. $321 will completely fund this procedure, including five nights in the hospital.
After recovery, Lucia can re-establish her small business selling millet and bananas. She also looks forward to spending more time with her friends and other women in the community.
