Leang is an eight-year-old boy from Cambodia who is currently in the second grade. He has two sisters and two brothers. When he isn’t at school, he enjoys spending time with his grandmother at home, playing with the other children in his neighborhood, and watching movies on TV. His favorite movie is Spiderman.
When he was only one year old, Leang burned his right hand and right foot in a fire. He developed contractures, which means his muscles shortened and hardened. The contractures make it difficult for Leang to flex and extend his fingers and toes.
Leang’s grandmother learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), from a relative. The family traveled for three hours to reach CSC for treatment. Leang is scheduled to undergo a burn contracture release surgery and a skin graft on January 18. After recovery, he will be able to use his right hand and foot easily again. CSC is requesting $194 to fund this procedure.
