Braseth is a cheerful boy from Cambodia. He lives with his parents in Kampong Cham province. His mother is a fish seller at a local market, and his father is a rubber farmer. He has one older brother who is a kindergarten student. In his free time, he enjoys playing with toy cars and likes eating grilled meat and fruit.
Braseth was born with polydactyly of his right hand. This means that he has an extra thumb. It causes him to injure his hand easily when he is playing and may also make it difficult for him to hold a pen properly when he starts school, which could affect his ability to learn and participate in class activities.
Fortunately, on January 27th, surgeons will perform a polydactyly repair procedure to remove the extra thumb. Our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, is requesting $379 to fund this procedure. After surgery, he will use his hand more comfortably, reduce injuries, and be able to hold a pen easily.
Braseth’s mother said, “I hope that after treatment, my son will be able to hold a pen easily and play without getting hurt.”
