Jayden is a sweet five-year-old boy. His mother is a housewife while his father is a day laborer at construction sites. Jayden is the third born in a family of five children and is not yet able to walk and talk well. The mother says that he was healthy at birth but after 4 months, he developed a pneumonia-like illness. His elder siblings had developed tuberculosis and since he was the youngest, he was admitted to the hospital for one year together with his mother. She thinks he could have missed sunshine due to the long stay in hospital.
Since he can not walk, Jayden is mostly in diapers, which his mom wondered if that also contributed to his condition. They noticed when he was young that his testes had not fully formed. After waiting for a long time with no resolve, they decided to bring him to Nazareth Hospital. An ultrasound scan was done and showed bilateral undescended testes and the surgeon has recommended an Orchidopexy procedure. Due to the many health burdens for their family, they have exhausted their national insurance medical coverage for the year and are now seeking financial assistance.
Jayden was diagnosed with cryptorchidism, a condition in which one or both of the testicles remains undescended. If left untreated, Jayden has an increased risk of developing hernias, testicular cancer, and fertility problems in the future.
Jayden will be receiving assistance from our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH). Fortunately, he is scheduled to undergo corrective surgery on October 21st. AMH is requesting $483 to cover the total cost of his procedure and care.
“Despite his health status, we love Jayden and would like to see him grow like other boys. It is our hope that he will soon be able to talk, walk and grow up like other children. That is why we kindly seek your help on his treatment,” says Jayden’s father.
