Rachel is an active and social 12-year-old girl from Kenya. Despite her challenges, she remains hopeful and optimistic about her future. Rachel is currently in Grade 7, but has paused her studies due to her medical condition. Two days after Rachel was born, her mother noticed that Rachel's head was enlarging and that her eyes appeared sunken. Rachel was diagnosed with hydrocephalus, a condition in which excess fluid accumulates in the brain and increases intracranial pressure. Rachel underwent shunt insertion surgery to drain the excess fluid, but the shunt failed within days. Rachel and her mother then journeyed 130 kilometers to our medical partner's care center, BethanyKids Kijabe Hospital. There, Rachel underwent a successful shunt revision surgery, and her mother’s joy was beyond words. They returned home, and life improved significantly. Unfortunately, hydrocephalus shunts can become blocked over time, making revision surgeries necessary. Rachel has had two more surgeries at three and seven years of age. She now requires another shunt revision surgery, so that she can resume her daily activities like other children her age. Without surgery, Rachel will experience severe physical and developmental delays. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $719 to cover the cost of surgery for Rachel that will treat her hydrocephalus. The procedure is scheduled to take place on February 13th and will drain the excess fluid from Rachel's brain. Rachel shares, "I am in pain, I haven't been able to go to school. I want to get better so that I can continue learning. I look forward to leaving the hospital feeling better so that I can go home, play with my siblings, and attend school."

Tengeletu is a 53-year-old man from Malawi. He is married with four adult children and engages in subsistence farming together with his wife to support the family. To supplement their income, Tengeletu also works as a casual laborer, mainly by doing cleaning jobs. In May 2025, Tengeletu started experiencing a swelling in his inguinal region. He sought medical care, and was diagnosed with an inguinal hernia, a condition that occurs when abdominal tissue protrudes through a weak spot in the lower abdominal muscles, causing a bulge in the groin area. Since then, he has made multiple visits to the hospital in hope of undergoing surgical repair, but without success. During his most recent visit to the hospital in early March this year, he was referred to our medical partner's care center, Partners in Hope Medical Center, for further support. He is very hopeful that the surgical operation will restore his health, enabling him to resume his daily activities to earn a living and support his family. Fortunately, on April 9th, he will undergo hernia repair surgery with the help of our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare. Tengeletu is raising $575 to fund the procedure, which will allow him to live more comfortably and confidently. He says, "I am very worried about this condition, I am not ready to die. I hope you can provide treatment support for me too, just like others before me have benefitted."

Younoeurs is a young boy from a rural farming family from Cambodia. He lives in Mondulkiri, a province on the Cambodian border, with his parents, who work as rubber farmers. Life is challenging for the family as they work long hours to support their children. He has one older brother who is in Grade 2. In his free time, he enjoys playing with toys with his brother, and his favorite meal is korko fish soup. When he was one month old, Younoeurs was burned by a hot motorbike exhaust pipe, resulting in scarring on the fourth and fifth fingers of his right hand. Burn scar contractures have formed on his fingers, making it difficult and painful for him to extend them. This limits his ability to grasp and hold objects properly. When Younoeurs's family learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, they traveled for eight hours seeking treatment. On March 17th, surgeons at CSC will perform a burn contracture release surgery to help improve the movement of his fingers, reduce pain, and allow him to use his right hand more normally for daily activities. Now, he needs help to fund this $652 procedure. Younoeurs 'smother said, “After the surgery, I hope that my son will be able to use his right hand properly without any difficulties. I want him to grow healthy, and thank you to the donors for your support.”
