Sey Ha is an 11-year-old student from Cambodia. He lives in small neighbourhood in Kampong Chhnang Province with his parents and siblings. He is the third of five children. His eldest brother is married and lives in a nearby village, while his other siblings are still in school. His father works as a construction worker, and his mother plants vegetables and sells them at the market to help support the family. Sey Ha enjoys playing sports with his friends and doing homework. His favorite subject is mathematics, and he dreams of becoming a doctor when he grows up.
About two weeks ago, Sey Ha sustained a fracture on his left forearm after falling while running. It caused pain and difficulty lifting his arm, limiting his ability to play and perform daily activities. After the accident, he first received treatment from a Khmer traditional medicine practitioner, where a bamboo splint was applied to his arm. However, his condition did not improve. Later, his mother brought him to a private clinic, where an X-ray showed a fracture.
Sey Ha was referred to our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), for further treatment. On March 10th, Sey Ha will undergo a fracture repair procedure, which will cost $600. The surgery will properly treat his forearm fracture. This procedure is expected to restore strength and movement to his arm, allowing him to return to school, play football, and engage in normal daily activities without pain.
Sey Ha’s mother said, “After the surgery, I hope that my child’s arm will heal so he can move it normally again and return to playing with his friends.”
