Hoeun is a 67-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia. She has five sons, two daughters, and ten grandchildren. She likes to listen to the monks pray on the radio.
One year ago, Hoeun developed a cataract in each eye, causing her blurry vision making it hard to walk or tend to her rice farm. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Hoeun learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for two and a half hours seeking treatment. On April 9th, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant on her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see more clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $229 procedure.
“I hope that I can continue to do rice farming again after my operation. I would like to do some more housework and take care my grandchildren,” Hoeun said.
