Mao is a 56-year-old truck driver from Cambodia. He and his wife have three children. His wife works in a factory, and all of his children are in school. In his spare time, Mao enjoys watching the news and boxing matches on his phone. In late September 2026, Mao slipped and fell in the bathroom, fracturing the neck of his left femur and the upper part of his thigh bone that connects to the hip joint. Since the accident, Mao has had persistent hip pain and difficulty walking, using a crutch to help him get around. His injury has made everyday activities more challenging and prevents him from comfortably carrying out his work as a truck driver. Mao needs to undergo a hip hemiarthroplasty to address his fracture and heal. A hip hemiarthroplasty is a partial hip replacement that involves replacing half of the hip joint. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner's hospital can perform this procedure on October 22nd to relieve Mao of his pain and allow him to walk more easily. Mao contributed $100 to his care and needs help raising $612 to fund his treatment. Mao said, “I hope the surgery will help reduce my hip pain and allow me to walk more comfortably and independently again. As a driver, I want to regain my mobility so I can return to my daily activities and get back to work when I have recovered enough."

Enos is a 59-year-old man and father of three children from Uganda. He and his wife depend on small-scale farming as their primary source of livelihood. Together, they cultivate crops to feed their family and earn some income to meet household needs, including their children's education. In his free time, Enos enjoys singing at church, which brings him spiritual comfort and happiness, as well as watching television and spending time with his family. He values his role as a husband and father and takes pride in contributing to his family's well-being through farming. Last year, Enos noticed a swelling developing around his right ear. Initially, the swelling appeared manageable, but it has progressively increased in size. The uncertainty surrounding the nature and progression of the swelling has also caused him considerable anxiety. Concerned about his condition, Enos sought medical attention and was given an ultrasound scan. The findings were suggestive of a benign tumor located in front of his right ear. After clinical assessment, surgical intervention was recommended to address the swelling. Enos is scheduled to receive surgery on his right ear on November 3rd at our medical partner's care center, Rushoroza Hospital. This procedure and care will cost $134. Doctors are hopeful that this procedure will help Enos regain his health and allow him to return to his farming and social activities. Enos shares, "I am worried about the swelling that has continued to grow near my right ear, and I wish to have it treated before it causes me further complications. Unfortunately, my wife and I live on small-scale farming, and our limited income is already committed to supporting our three children and paying their school fees. We cannot afford the cost of the recommended surgery on our own. I kindly appeal to donors to support me so that I can undergo the operation, recover, and return to my farming activities and family responsibilities. Sotheavy is an 11-year-old student from Cambodia. Her father is a police officer, and her mother works at a grocery shop. She is in Grade 4, and English is her favorite subject. In her free time, she enjoys drawing and reading storybooks. Her favorite foods are sour fish soup and fried pork with vegetables. Sotheavy was born with left torticollis, a condition in which the tight muscle on the left side of her neck causes her head to tilt to the left. The condition has become worse over the past year. She has difficulty bending her neck to the right because of the tight muscle. She also feels shy about her appearance because her head tilts to one side. Fortunately, our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, is helping Sotheavy receive treatment. On October 29th, surgeons will perform a contracture release surgery to loosen the tight muscle in her neck, helping her hold her head straighter and move it more easily. This may also help her feel more comfortable and confident about her appearance. Now, she needs help to fund this $572 procedure. Sotheavy's mother said, “As her mother, I hope the surgery will help straighten my daughter’s neck and make it easier for her to move her head. She often feels shy about her appearance, and I want her to feel more confident, comfortable, and happy with herself as she grows up.”
