Godfrey is a gentle and respectful man who is a father to four children, all of whom are studying in school. He started working at a young age, doing casual labor work on other people's farms while taking care of his siblings. Because of Godfrey's hard work, his sisters have become teachers and are married with families. Over time, Godfrey became a farm manager at a nearby convent, taking care of the pig farm there. Recently, Godfrey started experiencing symptoms such as needle-like pain, especially when lifting heavy objects, which has worsened while cultivating the farm. Godfrey's dream is to see his children thrive academically, and he is concerned that his health issues will keep him from working and supporting his family. Recently, Godfrey traveled to seek treatment and was diagnosed with a right inguinal hernia. On March 14th, he will undergo hernia repair surgery with the support of our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably and confidently. Now African Mission Healthcare is requesting $230 to help support Godfrey's surgery. Godfrey said, "I hope I will get well after the operation because it's the only hope I'm left with. Nevertheless, without your help, I won't be able to raise the funds required for my operation, therefore I will truly need your assistance."

Akram is a cute, curious 3-year-old from Tanzania. His mother is the family’s sole provider and works as a vendor at a local market, selling vegetables and fruits. Currently, Akram and his mother live in town to help save on living costs as he receives medical treatment, while his three siblings live with their grandmother in the village. Akram was diagnosed with bilateral genus varus, a condition in which his legs bow outwards so that his knees do not touch. This condition is typically caused by an excessive accumulation of fluoride in the bones, which often stems from contaminated drinking water. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH), is helping Akram receive treatment. On January 6th, he will undergo surgery that will restore his mobility, allow him to participate in various activities, and significantly decrease his risk of future complications. AMH is requesting $880 to fund this procedure. Akram’s mother shared: “As a single mother struggling to provide for my children, Akram’s condition has been weighing on me.”

Samoeun is a 63-year-old retired rice farmer. She comes from Kampong Thom province in Cambodia, which is known for its ancient temples and pagodas. She is married and has three sons, one daughter, and nine grandchildren. She and her husband live with their daughter who now manages the family rice paddies. Because her vision is so poor, she stays in her home and listens to monks pray on the radio. About a year ago, Samoeun developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her blurry vision. She cannot cook because it is hard for her to turn on the stove and she worries about hurting herself or her family. When Samoeun learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for four and a half hours seeking treatment. On December 7th, doctors will perform small incision cataract surgery and place an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $253 procedure. Samoeun shared: "I hope after surgery I can see better and help my daughter to take care of my grandchildren. I feel useless staying inside my home and would like to be more useful."
