Meet Pov, a 74-year-old grandmother from Cambodia. Pov, is married with three sons, three daughters, and twelve grandchildren.
“One year ago Pov developed a cataract in each eye. This causes her blurred vision, tearing, and she is uncomfortable in the sunshine,” explains our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC).
Cataracts occur when the lens inside the eye becomes cloudy with age, which causes decreased vision and functional blindness.
$225 funds cataract surgery that will remove the cloudy lenses from both of her eyes and replace them with artificial lenses. Funding for her surgery will include post-operative care, and after the surgery, she will be able to see clearly again.
Pov enjoys visiting the pagoda in her free time to listen to the monks pray and participate in ceremonies. Surgery will allow her to resume these and other independent activities.
